Visits to your website from people clicking a link inside an AI assistant's answer, such as ChatGPT or Perplexity.
It's one more entry channel, like Google or social media. It shows up in your analytics as visits from sites like chatgpt.com.
Example: someone asks ChatGPT about a coffee maker, clicks your store's link and lands on your site. That visit is AI traffic.
Adobe expects this traffic to US online stores to grow 130% over the 2026 holiday season. Even so, it's still a small part of the total.
To see it, open Google Analytics' traffic acquisition report and filter by chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai or gemini.google.com.
Watch out: some of this traffic arrives untagged and shows up as ‘direct’. The real figure may be higher than what you see.
