CPM (cost per thousand impressions)

An impression is each time the ad appears on screen. With CPM you pay for those appearances, even if nobody clicks.

Example: with a €10 CPM, your ad showing 5,000 times costs €50.

CPM is mostly used to reach lots of people, not to drive direct sales.

To compare channels, also look at how many clicks and sales those impressions bring. A cheap CPM with no interested people is expensive.

Watch out: some platforms only charge for impressions that can actually be seen. Check what counts as an impression on each one.
